The pics are blurry, it was still a bit dark in there. I'm heading out now to milk. A bit nervous to milk Gale. Her udder is big, and she is my reformed kicker. Last night I tried to milk a bit of colostrum out and she kicked me. I didn't have her in the stanchion though. I just need to soften her udder a bit, this first milking anyway. Wish me luck!

There isn't much cuter than a Jersey calf! Good luck with that challenging first milking
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I just want to grab her and kiss her between those big brown eyes (I'm sure she would love that. lol)
ReplyDeleteStay safe til Gale gets her head together ;0)
Congrats, Lynea
Congratulations - she is adorable! I wish I was there to see her, Eliza would love to see her Auntie and her new baby cow!
ReplyDeleteThis baby is just the sweetest! She has the longest black eyelashes, this morning I curled up in the straw with her while Gale was out at the hay feeder. I'll try to get better pics, I've just been so busy! I've got 10 smoked salmon spreads to finish by Noon tommorrow, in addition to all the other goodies. I'm so thankful for the addition Gale's milk will bring in a few days, I've been really short on milk.
ReplyDeleteI miss you Eliza! Give baby Lelia kisses, and you can come stay the night " on the farm " next time you visit!
Oh, and after a few half hearted attempts to kick, Gale settled right in and the first milking was just fine. Man, I actually came away from it pretty good. No new bruises, I wasn't covered in crap at all. This morning one half of my body was sore, and I thought, " what in the world? " then I remembered my little roll in the bucket of udder wash escapade.......
Yeah-she is precious-I'm so excited for you its what you've been waiting for!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJess - anonymous is Mom but my computer counseling is less than the best so maybe her next post will say Mom - we are new at this.
